How do you get a printer to recongnize a refill cartridge?

It is a HP deskjet 960c.How do you get a printer to recongnize a refill cartridge?
It should recognize it already?! Your question is kind of confusing because you should just be able to stick it in there and have it work fine, maybe try..punching it!?!?How do you get a printer to recongnize a refill cartridge?
Hi Canelita, Have you successfully made your HP recognize your refill cartridge? I would advise you doing otherwise because in the end your print quality suffers. If cost is a factor why you are going for refills, why don't you try HP's value ink cartridges (XL and multi-packs) instead? This way you get lower cost per page and at the same time get good quality prints only genuine ink gives =D
The HP 960c reads the chip of the cartridge and refuses it when the

chips tells empty. But there is an easy solution.

Turn computer and printer on (important). Then put the cartridge in and

out, several times. Sooner or later the printer gives up. It works better

if you have an old cartridge (doesnt matter if empty) and alternate them.

You find hints for such problems sometimes in internet shops for

ink refills.
